What is SEO? Different Types of SEO And SEO Checklist

In this particular article we will discuss what is SEO, what are different types of SEO, and the best SEO checklist for 2022.

First, let’s start with the meaning of SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

What is SEO?

SEO (Search Engine  Optimization), also known as website optimization, is a way to increase the traffic to your website through a set of techniques and strategies that allow a website to improve its positioning in the SERPs (search engine results page )of search engines like Google and Bing.

Now you understand what SEO is, let’s see its types.

What are Different Types of SEO?

Depending on the aspect that we want to optimize on our website for Google, there are different types of SEO or types of positioning in Google that we can carry out on our web project which are:

  • Technical SEO
  • On-Page SEO
  • Off-Page SEO
  • Local SEO

Technical SEO

It is another type of web positioning, it is responsible for analyzing and correcting all the factors that are likely to be optimized for users and search engines.

These factors have more to do with the code or how to carry out the implementation, so it is necessary to have advanced technological knowledge.

And not all of them are visible to the user’s eyes such as ensuring that robots are capable of crawling and indexing all the pages of the website (those we want it to index), the loading speed of the web, canonical URLs, redirections or the depth levels of a site, to name a few examples.

On-Page SEO

Also known as SEO on-site, is one of the main types of website optimization that covers the entire set of optimizations that we can perform directly on the website.

The internal factors of a website affect, to a greater or lesser extent, the positioning of the site.

Off-Page SEO

Also known as offsite, that is another type of SEO. It is the name given to all SEO work focused on sites outside of our own.

The main factor in this aspect is the authority acquired through quality external links (backlinks) from relevant websites related to the niche of our own site.

These links, which point from other web pages to ours, help increase in the authority and relevance of it with respect to the niche of our website.

Local SEO

It’s nothing more than ranking your company’s website on Google for a certain city or place that you want or believe to be viable.

A LOCAL SEO strategy is directly linked to the service or product that is offered in the place you want to reach.

The strategy has been used for years by companies of different segments and sizes to improve the ranking of pages in search engines such as Google and others, increasing website traffic and qualified sales, unlike PPC campaigns.

So, these were some major types of SEO, now let’s have a look at SEO Checklist.

SEO Checklist 2022

Technical SEO Checklist:

Here are the main technical elements for the SEO optimization of a web page. When it comes to ranking a website, it is very important to take into account the technical aspects of your website.

Setting Up Google Search Console In Google Search Console you can see if Google crawlers have detected pages with a 404 error, or any other error code, such as 500 errors that are server responses.

Make sure to resolve them as soon as possible, with redirects for broken links and figuring out what to do with server code errors.

Adding XML Sitemap: The XML Sitemap is a text file that shows a complete map of all the URLs that exist on a website. Helps search engine crawlers to fetch and index all pages.

Make sure it is in the root of the website (uploaded via FTP) and also uploaded to both Google search console and Bing Webmaster Tools.

Adding Robots.txt: It is a text file that must be uploaded to the root of the domain, it tells the search engine robots which pages you want them to crawl and which ones you don’t.

If you have created it, check it to make sure that it is not blocking important pages from search engine robots.

Checking Your Website Speed: Make sure that the speed of your website does not create any problems. The more efficient and compressed the code, the faster the website will load.

You can fix it by minifying JS, CSS, and HTML codes, also you can remove unused JS and CSS if any.

Adding Canonical Tag: If there is duplicate content on the website that cannot be redirected (301 or 302 redirects), the rel=canonical tag should be used on pages that require it.

This was a technical SEO checklist, now let’s discuss the On-page SEO checklist.

On-page SEO Checklist

On-Page SEO is a process in which we optimize the content title, permalink, meta description, website loading speed, alt tag, etc. So that the content can get the first rank in the SERPs.

Focusing on your content quality: This is the first and most important step. Always write something unique, interesting, and new on your blog.

If you do not write quality content, then readers will not stay on your blog for long and they will leave your blog soon. Also, Google does not rank low-quality content.

Optimization of Title of your Post: The title of your blog post is a very important aspect of on-page SEO optimization. When search engines crawl your content, they crawl many things and one of them is the title.

Also, it makes a deep impression on the visitor. If your title doesn’t attract visitors, they will never click on your content. No matter how good your article is.

Always try to put your main keyword at the beginning of the title. Sometimes it may happen that if you have trouble keeping it in the beginning, then you can put it in the middle.

Create SEO Friendly URLs: Always keep your post URL short and add your main keywords to it. This helps search engines understand what your post is about. Do not use special characters, symbols, brackets, or commas in the URL.

Doing SEO of Images: There are many bloggers who ignore image optimization. They do not use the proper names and ALT tags for their images which is against on-page SEO optimization.

Before uploading your images, always use a suitable name for them. And you can use your focus keyword for the ALT tag.

Also, if you use a lot of images for your content, resize and compress them. It reduces your image size and improves your site load time.

Make sure your website is Mobile-friendly: This is very important so first of all check that your site is mobile-friendly.

If your site is not mobile-friendly, then Google will reduce your ranking and your site will not perform well for mobile search i.e. will not be able to rank well.

Around 60% to 70% of searches are now done on mobile. That’s why make sure your website looks and performs well on mobile.

You can use Google’s Mobile Testing Tool to check whether your website or blog is Mobile-Friendly. If not, then you need to install a mobile responsive theme.

Off-page SEO Checklist

Creating High-quality articles: Bloggers who find your article good and of high quality, then they also give you a backlink, share your article on their site. So to get a backlink, you should write a high-quality article in your blog post.

How to write High-Quality articles-

Search Engine Submission: Search engine submission also comes in Off-Page SEO activities and this is the most important part. In this you have to submit your website to popular search engines like- Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask, etc.

With this, we will have the advantage that all our posts will be added to the search engine’s database and whenever a visitor searches for any keyword, then our site will come to the page of those top search engines.

Social Bookmarking your SIte: If you look at SEO tips, then social bookmarking is the most powerful way, with the help of which you can promote your blog.

Top  Social Bookmarking sites list

Listing on Forums: Forum posting also comes in SEO Marketing, from which you can take do-follow links. What do you have to do?

Search the forum related to your niche and submit your question there without putting a link to your site.

And answer another question and when he asks you for a link to a site, then only then do you share the link of your site, otherwise not.

Commenting on Other Blogs: Comment posting is the easiest and best way to get backlinks and I personally do that.

If you also want a link to your site, then you also go to another website and start commenting, this will give you 2 benefits. You will get backlinks for your site or you will also get traffic from comments only.

So, this was a brief article in which I shared my personal experiences with you related to SEO.

Thanks, and I hope it was helpful for you if you really enjoyed it then don’t forget to share it with your blogger friends.
